4. Moon in Cancer – Spleen Function Energy

Comforting the Senses

After the invigoration of senses by the curiosity of Gemini, it is time for the comfort and security provided by Cancer, which the Moon naturally rules. Time to withdraw within the boundaries of our comfort and safety and enjoy some cozy time.

The fourth aspect of the daily Function Energy is Spleen, and this is what we’ll be harmonizing for the next couple of days.

Left Side

Place lightly your Right hand on the coccyx, and the Left hand on one of three places: (a) the left inner ankle (Left SEL 5), (b) the left inner knee (Left SEL 1), or (c) the pubic bone. Hold for 3 – 5 minutes or for as long as it feels good.

Right Side

Place your Left hand on the coccyx, and the Right hand on one of three places: (a) the right inner ankle (Right SEL 5), (b) the right inner knee (Right SEL 1), or (c) the pubic bone.

Note: There are three comparable variations of the flow. Choose the one that lets you do it in a most comfortable position. I like to use (a) while lying in bed, and (b) when I sit on the couch. I rarely do (c).

How It Helps

Feelings and sensitivity are the domain of the fourth aspect of the Twelve-fold Division. Harmonizing Spleen lifts our spirits, comforts our feelings, and calms our senses. As it brings sunshine and vitality to our body, it gives our immunity a boost and helps us overcome the fatigue from long-standing disharmonies.

As we sit quietly and harmonize Spleen FE, we reach out to the deepest parts of ourselves and bask in the comfort and peace that lies there.

A four-step sequence to harmonize Spleen FE is given as the Anterior Ascending Energy in the Touch of Healing (p.136) and in Mary Burmeister’s Self Help Book 1 (pp.39-42)

Here is the correspondence between the signs and the 12-fold Function Energy: (1) Aries/Lung; (2) Taurus/Large Intestine; (3) Gemini/Stomach; (4) Cancer/Spleen; (5) Leo/Heart; (6) Virgo/Small Intestine; (7) Libra/Bladder; (8) Scorpio/Kidney; (9) Sagittarius/Diaphragm; (10) Capricorn/Umbilicus; (11) Aquarius/Gall Bladder; (12) Pisces/Liver.

Coming up next is number five: Leo – Heart Function Energy.
